The Trail to 1000 Miles: Delafield
PART 3 - DELAFIELD SEGMENT
By checking the Delafield Segment off my list, I’m one step closer to becoming a Thousand Miler. Or 14,256 steps closer. Either way.
So, this segment is … different. A big portion of it is on cement pavement, through the downtown of Delafield. Diana and I walked past homes, businesses, and even a Target. Despite it not really feeling like a true hike, it was a segment we needed to get done and there was some great nature to see at the beginning. It was also really fun to try and spot the yellow blazes on bridges and light posts.
“The Delafield Segment highlights the ‘Trail Town’ of Delafield and includes a trek along part of the Lake Country Recreational Trail.”
What I liked:
The beginning of this segment is really nice. The boardwalk over the marshy area was very cute.
There is a bathroom at the beginning of the segment!
What I disliked:
The trail went through a lot of the downtown area of Delafield. So instead of feeling like I was hiking, I felt like I was taking a walk through the town. It’s a weird segment.
